Growth spurt · Around 24–28 weeks
The 6-month growth spurt
A hunger and clinginess burst around 24–28 weeks often sits next to first foods.
26 August 2026 · 2 min read · A Baby Bee Blossom family note
From our home
The 6-month growth spurt can land while you are also starting complementary foods. Milk still leads. Food is practice. Extra fuss can be the spurt, the new foods, Leap 5, or all three.
What to expect
- Hungrier feeds for a few days.
- Sleep and mood can wobble.
- Messy, hesitant first foods are normal.
What can help
- Keep milk feeds going.
- Offer a little soft food, then notice interest and fullness.
- Sit baby upright and stay with them while they eat.
