The Wonder Weeks calls this categories. In simple terms, your baby is studying what makes things alike or different. This does not mean they can name groups; they learn by looking, touching and comparing.
What to expect
- Turning objects over to inspect them.
- Moving a toy from one hand to the other.
- Banging two objects together to compare the sounds.
What can help
- Give them two safe objects with different shapes or textures.
- Name what they are looking at or touching.
- Let them hold, turn and bang safe toys.
