Movement · Around 6–8 months
Sitting more steadily
Between 6 and 8 months, many babies sit when placed upright, although they may still topple.

From our home
Balance builds slowly. Your baby may first lean on their hands, then sit for longer without support.
What you may notice
- Sitting for a short time without help.
- Using both hands to play while sitting.
Keep it simple
- Practise on the floor, away from hard edges.
- Stay close while balance is still new.
